The Creative Cuisine Cooking School

The Creative Cuisine Cooking School

Hello and Welcome to Creative Cuisine Cooking School!

Our approach to cooking is one of enjoyment and ease. We believe cooking should be fun and not a job. We love the adventures that come along with cooking. There are always new tastes to savor just around the corner. Our goal is to impart this love of cooking to the students through freshness of ingredients, uniqueness of recipes and ease of preparation with a consciousness of good diet and nutrition. We want students to know that they too, can make cooking a culinary adventure.

Based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Karen Maihofer is owner and operator of Creative Cuisine Cooking School. She is certified by the International Association of Culinary Professionals and has trained with some of the finest chefs and cooking teachers in the world, including Julia Child, James Beard, Guilliano Buggialli in Italy, Abbey Mandel and Perla Myers.

Karen has taught cooking classes for more than 30 years. For 10 years she offered cooking courses at the Milwaukee Area Technical College. Since 1991, between the months of January and April, Karen travels to the Naples and Ft. Myers area of Florida teaching classes.

She has also taught at such places as the American Club in Kohler, Wisconsin, the Midwest's only AAA Five Diamond hotel and resort, the Wisconsin State Fair, Olympia Resort in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, the Abbey Resort in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, the William Sonoma Stores, Carson Pirie Scott stores in Chicago and in the Kohl's Cooking Schools.

Karen is no stranger to radio or television. On Milwaukee's local WTMJ radio station she was co-host of a monthly call-in culinary show. She has also done cooking segments on numerous TV shows.

Karen has been a food writer for "Creative Living" magazine and has authored eight cookbooks.

She has developed recipes for companies such as Uncle Ben's, Fun Foods Pasta Co. and several catering companies within the Milwaukee area.

Karen is recognized by her community and has been featured many times in the "Milwaukee Journal Sentinel" and the "Milwaukee Magazine".
