Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you offer private events and classes?
Yes, we can accommodate many types of events, from anniversary celebrations and birthdays, club meetings,  private dinners and team building events. For more information, please call the cooking school office.
  • What is the best way to sign up for a class?
Click on the calendar, browse your options, click on the class your are interested in and just follow the direction of our shopping cart. Never hesitate to call should you have questions.  Office hours vary in the cooking schools but if you leave a message, we will call you back as soon as a staff member is available.
  • What is your policy on drinking wine or beer during class?
Central Market views the cooking schools as fun, educational experiences. We like to pair the wine or beer that you will be sampling with the food that is being prepared. For this reason, and to be in compliance with TABC regulations, we ask that you not bring wine or beer into the classroom and that you enjoy the samples provided in class.
  • Will I get to sample the items prepared in class?
In most cases, generous samples of each dish will be available to all participants. We cannot guarantee that the samples provided will be considered a full meal by all participants, but most people do leave satisfied. In certain classes, participants may take items that have been prepared with them (a floral class, a cake decorating class). This information will be provided in the class description.
  • Do you have an age limit to take the classes?
Classes for children are age specific; the targeted age group will be listed before the class description. Classes for teens include 13 – 18 years old. All other classes are for adults 18 years or older. Some wine and beer classes may be restricted to customers who are 21 years of age or older.
  • How long are the classes?
Our classes vary from one hour, lunchtime classes to events that may last several hours. Most classes are 2 ½ hours, but please do read the class description carefully for these important details.
  • What should I wear to a cooking class?

Participants in hands-on classes should wear flat, closed toe shoes and not wear rings, bracelets or watches. We prefer that long hair be pulled back during the cooking portion of the class.

Participants attending demonstration classes may want to dress in layers and bring a light jacket or sweater. The temperature in the cooking schools can be a little warm or quite chilly.

  • How does your waiting list work?
If a class is sold out, you can add your name to the waiting list; you will not be charged. If a seat becomes available, you will be notified via email and have the option to register at that time.
  • How can I cancel/change a class if I am within your cancellation policy?

    1) Sign into your on-line account and click on “My Classes

    2) Find the class you are canceling and click "Change”

    3) Click on the box in front of the registered name.

    4) Click on the appropriated choice

When you finish, your account will show an account credit. Refunds are given only as class credit. For your next purchase, the shopping cart will NOT automatically apply the credit and deduct the cost of your purchase from your account credit before it charges your credit card.  YOU MUST CLICK ON THE BUTTON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PAGE “APPLY ACCOUNT CREDIT”.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Please note that registration is a firm commitment to attend the class. To avoid being charged the full price of the class, Cancellations must be made 4 DAYS in advance. (for example, reservations for a class on Monday at 6:30 pm would need to be cancelled before 12 am on Friday.)We often have people whose names are on a wait list and we like to give them plenty of notice that an opening is available in the class of their choice. Be sure to read our cancellation policies CLICK HERE!
