For years, buttercream icing has reigned supreme in the world of cake, and rightfully so. This creamy, sweet, delectable icing is secretly everyone's favorite part of the cake.

Come learn to how to level, torte, fill, stack, and perfectly frost your cake. Staff Instructor Sara Siambanes will show you how to get a super smooth, crumb-free finish.  You will also learn how to assemble and fill a piping bag and then finish your cake with a gorgeous design that will dazzle and delight your friends and family.

The techniques we show you are so user-friendly - you won’t believe how easy it is to create a professional looking masterpiece!  All of the tools you need, including the cake and Sara's delicious buttercream recipe, are included in the price of this class!

TONIGHT'S CLASS:

In addition to learning the basics of leveling, torting, filling, and frosting a cake, you will be introduced to the popular Russian piping tips to decorate your cake. Students will also be introduced to basic weaving to create a flower basket look.


Unlike other cake decorating classes, WE supply the cake and all tools needed to successfully complete this class.  You do not need to invest in any of the tools BEFORE you attend the class.  All you need is the will to learn and the desire to decorate.  If you decide you want to get into cake decorating, we do sell all of the tools and ingredients in our retail store.  Remember, students who become Insider Rewards members get 10% off ALL regular price retail items the day of class. 

This is a HANDS-ON style class

This class is a SPECIAL COUPLES COOKING CLASS.  We will feature a beach inspired cocktail and 4 savory dishes and a sweet finish. 

We offer simple and elegant recipes for two chefs cooking together with the aim of turning the routine daily task of making dinner into a relaxing and romantic bonding experience for two.

These recipes are designed for busy working couples who find themselves with limited time for just about everything – including preparing dinner and for spending quality moments with each other.  PLUS you get to enjoy cocktails too! 

Couples cooking together is always fun and exciting.  This style class has a maximum of 16 guests.  We work in smaller groups of four.  Each couple will be paired with another as they work through the recipes.  Come as a couple or as a group. If you have never made or eaten ravioli made from fresh pasta, you are in for quite a treat. Making them can be a group event and really fun. Fresh pasta is delicate and has a rich texture and compliments any filling encased inside.  You
will learn to make the basic dough and use a pasta machine to work and shape it.  Then use the fresh pasta sheets to create AMAZING fresh ravioli.

You will learn to make ginger-miso soup, spicy tuna maki (sushi roll), and hand rolls.

Additionally, we will have a station with a large variety of items so that you can customize your own maki and hand rolls.

This is a techniques class, so once you master the basics, the variations are endless. We will have tools in stock for you to purchase if you wish. Come hungry, there is always to plenty to eat.

This is a HANDS-ON style class. Please wear closed-toe shoes and restrain shoulder-length or longer hair.

RP welcomes new in-house instructor, Sharon Baskin to the Culinary Center. She is from Pennsylvania and brings an amazing array of talents, techniques, and to her classes and food.

Summer Fruit Fantasy or "How to make glorious desserts from Florida’s amazing Fruits" is on the menu today. 

Join Sharon as she teaches some of the greatest recipes from Famous San Francisco Chefs who created genius recipes that showcase the fruit flavors in classic desserts.

Classic Fruit Cobbler is the best dropped biscuit cobbler out there and the Crisp Cobbler has a dough made with boiling water, who believes it.  The final recipes include out of this world Plum Crisp along with Lemon Curd Tassies, and each dish allows for creative fruit options.  



CHEF'S BIO

Sharon moved to San Francisco for three years because she wanted to be a great cook and baker.  She finished her culinary training at a local home chef cooking school but went on to take professional classes at Tante Marie’s Cooking School.  It was both a culinary school and a pastry school and where she took numerous classes in both, but specialized her training in the pastry end. 

She then returned to Pittsburgh where she started teaching full time as a Chef Educator at Bidwell Training Center’s Culinary School.  She was the lead educator demonstrating in a large class instruction setting.  Her team also cooked lunch for the 500+ students at the facility.

Sharon has taught at The Versatile Gourmet and ended up designing and supervising their adult education program.  She  continued teaching in her home and still does so when she returns to Pittsburgh.

Though she can teach anything in the culinary realm, her love is baking. Hopefully you will sign up to experience her teaching techniques and improve your skills.

THESE ARE LIFETIME SKILLS to pass down to generations to come!  We all bake because we want to please our loved ones!

We offer simple and elegant recipes for two chefs cooking together with the aim of turning the routine daily task of making dinner into a relaxing and romantic bonding experience for two.

These recipes are designed for busy working couples who find themselves with limited time for just about everything – including preparing dinner and for spending quality moments with each other.  PLUS you get to enjoy cocktails too! 

Couples cooking together is always fun and exciting.  This style class has a maximum of 16 guests.  We work in smaller groups of four.  Each couple will be paired with another as they work through the recipes.  Come as a couple or as a group. Tonight experience a Tampa blue crab tradition!

Crab is a special treat, not because of the cost but more so because of the effort involved in picking the meat out and the amount of effort required for cooking and preparing the little critters. It can be quite the task to take on, but it is equally rewarding. When eating the crab meat, make sure not to overdo the spices that you use for seasoning as this can easily overwhelm the subtler taste of the crab.

Venture back to when Cuban families from Tampa would go crabbing along the shores of Florida and then have the traditional Tampa treat "jaibas enchiladas."

Introducing a NEW recurring series of events in the RP Culinary Center on the last Friday of each month. 

At these events we will create a gourmet meal from a DELICIOUS DESTINATION around the country and world.  Our focus will be on the region through the food they eat and enjoy. 

Tonight, our destination is American diners.  They are a small quick food casual restaurant that is found in the Northeastern United States and Midwest, as well as in other parts of the US and Canada. Diners offer a wide range of foods, mostly American cuisine, and have a distinct exterior structure, a casual atmosphere, a long counter with bar stools where patrons eat their meals, and late operating hours. Diners frequently stay open 24 hours a day, especially in cities and towns with a busy bar scene or with factories with night shift workers.


Diners typically serve American food such as hamburgers, french fries, club sandwiches, and other simple, quickly cooked, and inexpensive fare. Much of the food is grilled, as early diners were based around a grill. Coffee is the ubiquitous beverage at diners, even if it is not always of high quality. Diners often serve hand-blended milkshakes and desserts such as pies, which are typically displayed in a glass case. Classic American diners often have an exterior layer of stainless steel siding—a feature unique to diner architecture.
