The instructor was: Erika shared her talent and personality in a way that really enhanced the cooking and dining experience. She shared great stories that illustrated aspects of our shared cooking and dining experience, and helped connect the group.
The atmosphere was: From the beginning, Erika's clear communication and friendly encouragement made me feel like I could cook new recipes, in an unfamiliar setting, with people I just met!
Complexity of the recipes: By establishing great communication, having excellent answers to questions about possible recipe modifications, knowing exactly when to share technique tips without overwhelming us, and inviting each group to share a bit about their cooking experience as we ate together at the end, Erika made the recipes seem easy even though I may have hesitated to tackle them if I'd just come across them in my own cookbook.
The food was: Thanks to Erika and Caroline's skillful guidance, every dish really was delectable, even though the food was mostly prepared by people who had never attempted any of the recipes before!
The skills you learned were: Again, the explanations about technique, ingredient choices and properties, and possible substitutions were exactly what an infrequent cook needs to motivate more adventurousness in the kitchen.
I enjoyed myself and had fun: It was so nice how Erika brought the group together, so that we weren't just 12 strangers awkwardly sharing a class, but fellow cooks supporting each other in learning new skills.
